Üç gün sonra,yaşlı çift evlerinin 2 mil uzağındaki yeni ve büyük mezarlıkta oğullarına güle güle dedi.Ve sonradan karanlık evlerine geri döndüler.Herbert’sız yaşamak istemediler.Fakat iyi bir şey olacağını düşündüler ve bir şeyin onlara yardım edeceğini beklediler.Günler çok yavaş geçti.Bazen hiç konuşmadılar çünkü Herbert’sız konuşacak bir şey yoktu.Ve günler çok yalnız geçiyordu.

O sırada,bir gece,yaklaşık bir hafta sonra bayan White uyuyamadığı için yatağından kalktı ve pencerenin kenarına oturdu.Seyretti ve çocuğunun gelmesini bekledi.O gelmiyordu ve bayan White ağlıyordu.

Karanlıkta kocası onu duydu ve ona seslendi ‘Yatağa gel dışarı soğuk’ dedi. ‘Oğlum için daha soğuk’ dedi. ‘Ve o şuan soğuk mezarlıkta’ dedi karısı

Bayan White yatağa geri dönmedi ama bay White yaşlı ve yordundu,yatak sıcaktı ve sonunda yeniden uykuya daldı.Birden bire karısının ağlamasını duydu. ‘Pençe’ diye bağırdı kadın. ‘Maymun pençesi !’ tekrar yatağa geldi ve orada durdu. ‘Nedir o ? Ne oldu ?’ dedi bay White.Yatağa oturdu ‘Ne oldu’ diye düşündü.Niye karısı heyecanlıydı,’O ne hakkında konuşuyordu’ Ve karısına baktı.Karısının suratı karanlıkta çok beyazdı.Sessizce ‘İstiyorum’ dedi.

Bay White sordu ‘Nedir?Ne?’ bayan White cevapladı ‘Maymun pençesi,nerede o ?’ bay White ‘Aşağıda’ dedi ve ‘Niye ?’ diye sordu.Bayan White gülmeye ve ağlamaya başladı. ‘İki tane daha dileğimiz var’ dedi.

‘Birini aldık fakat iki fazla daha var.’ ‘Oh,hayır!Yine mi?Düşün kadın’ dedi bay White fakat bayan White dinlemedi.

‘Çabuk’ dedi kadın. ‘Git ve pençeyi getir’ ‘Oğlumuzun bize geri dönmesini dileyeceğiz.’ ‘Hayır !‘ dedi bay White. ‘Sen delisin.’ Bayan White tekrar ‘Getir,getir çabuk onu’ dedi.

Sonra bay White tekrar ‘Düşün kadın düşün’ dedi. ‘Oğlumuz uzun süre makinede kaldı ve onu göstermez istemediler bize.’ ‘Düşün onun vücudunu görmek istiyor musun ?’

‘Evet o benim oğlum,ondan korkmuyorum.’

Bay White üzgün bir şekilde ‘Anlamıyorsun’ dedi.Fakat aşağıya inerek maymun pençesini aramaya gitti.

Yatak odası karanlıktı ve bay White’ın mumu yoktu.Yavaşça odanın karşısına geçti ve ellerini maymun pençesi için koydu.Ona dokundu ve hızlı bir şekilde elini çekti.’Hayır !’ diye düşündü.’Herbert’ı görmek istemiyorum !’ ‘Onun suratı makineden sonra…Hayır !’ sonra karısını düşündü.Sonra ellerini koydu ve pençeyi aldı.

Yatak odasında karısı bekliyordu.Bay White’ın elindeki pençeyi gördü ve ‘Çabuk dileğini tut’

‘Yapamam’ dedi bay White. ‘Hatırla o makinede öldü.’ Bayan White ağlayarak ‘Dileğini tut.Ben kendi oğlumuzdan korkmuyorum.’ Dedi.Bay White üzgün bir şekilde karısına baktı ve pençeyi sağ eline aldı ve yavaşça dedi ki ‘Oğlumuzun bize geri dönmesini diliyorum.’ ve en yakındaki sandalyeye oturdu.Fakat bayan White pencerenin yanına gitti dışarıdaki yola baktı.Orada uzun bir süre kaldı ve hareket etmedi.

Hiçbir şey olmadı.Maymun pençesi işe yaramadı. ‘Tanrı’ya şükürler olsun’ dedi bay White ve yatağa geri döndü.Sonra bayan White’da yatağa geri döndü.

İngilizcede, haftanın günlerinin isimleri çok eskilere dayanır. Haftanın günleri Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday kelimelerinin her birinin manaları vardır. Hepsi, eskiden insanların Tanrı diye inandıkları gezegen isimlerinin haftanın günlerine verilmesiyle ortaya çıkmıştır.

Örneğin; Sunday      = Sun's Day
Monday     = Moon's Day

Eskiden Mars'ın adı Tiw, Merkür'ün adı Woden, Jüpiter'in ki Thor ve Venüs'ün adı daFrigg idi. Yani:

Friday          =Frigg's Day

Cats are related to lions and tigers, and if you have ever seen a cat stalking a bird, it is easy to see why.
All cats are good at hunting. They have acute senses, sharp retractable claws and sharp teeth. They are also agile which means they are light and quick on their feet.
Domestic cats (housecats) could survive in the wild by hunting mice, small birds and insects.
Cats can communicate in a number of ways including
meowing, purring, trilling, hissing and growling.


Most cats are active at dawn and dusk and can sleep for up to 16 hours a day. Young cats (kittens) may spend hours chasing their tails, pouncing on pretend prey and springing on each other. Cats that are brought up away from other cats will still behave like this. It is in their nature.
Cats spend many hours a day cleaning themselves. They wash their fur with saliva and lick it with their rough tongues. It's like us brushing our hair with a hairbrush!
Cats will arch their backs, raise their fur and hiss and growl if they feel threatened by another cat.
Female cats are pregnant for about nine weeks and give birth to a litter of 1 - 10 kittens. The average size of a litter is 2 - 5 kittens. When kittens are first born they are blind and helpless and depend on their mother's milk for food. They begin to crawl at about two weeks of age.
Cats are the most popular pet in the world and can be found almost anywhere.
Did you know that the African wild cat is the ancestor of our domestic cats? It is tabby
coloured and has existed for about one million years.
