Hotel Rwanda 2004 yılında çekilen bir filmdir.İnsanlık tarihindeki en korkunç canavarlık öykülerinden birini anlatan film,Afrika’da Rwanda’da geçer.İktidardaki Hutu’lar ile isyancı Tutsi’ler arasındaki korkunç sivil savaş konu edilmiştir.

Film,yabancı müşterilere hizmet veren son derece lüks bir otelin müdür olan Paul Rusesabagina’nın hikayesini anlatmaktadır.İlk sahne kendisi de aynı zamanda bir Hutu olan Rwanda’nın başkanının Tutsi’lerle bölgedeki rahatsızlığın sona ermesi için bir barış antlaşması imzalamasıyla başlar.Antlaşmanın imzalanmasından çok kısa bir süre sonra,başkanın Tutsi isyancıları tarafından bir suikaste kurban gitmesi,ülkede gerilimin başlamasına neden olur.Hutu polisi ülkede Tutsi’leri öldürmek,yok etmek için çağrıda bulunur ve katliam başlar.

Paul’un otelindeki dünya ise farklıdır.Duvarların arkasında korkunç kavgalar olsa da,kendisi her şey normalmiş gibi davranarak otelinin saygınlığını sürdürmeye devam etmeye çalışır.Çevre bölgelerdeki mültecilerin otele akın etmesiyle durum değişmeye başlar ve Paul onları kabul etmeye zorlanır,en azından Birleşmiş Milletlerin kurtarmaya gelmesine kadar.

Paul’un asıl endişesi ailesidir.Çünkü eşi bir Tutsi’dir ve O’nun yanında olması gerekmektedir.Paul’un haberi olmadan,Birleşmiş Milletler savaşa müdahele etmeme konusunda kesin karar almıştır ve sadece ülkeyi terk etmeye izin verilen şanslılar için taşımacılık yapabilicektir.

Bu arada Paul otelin dışına yiyecek bulmak için gitmeye zorlanır ve dışarı çıktığında yollarda gördüğü cesetler durumun ne kadar vahim olduğunu gösterir.Aniden sadece ailesinin hayatını kurtarmanın yeterli olmadığını fark eder ve güvenlik için herkese güçlerini toplamalarına öncülük eder.

Bunları düşünürken,bir yandan da bir kahraman haline dönüşmekten çekinir ve zaten olmayı istemez bile.Zaman geçtikçe,her ne kadar istemesede görev üzerine kalmıştır ve gitgide artmaktadır.Elinden geleni yapmaya çalışır ancak sadece birkaç bin insanı kurtarabilir.

Ne yazık ki yaşananlar gerçek bir olay olduğu için,filmde kesin bir son yoktur.Sonunda Paul ve eşi Tatiana yetim çocuklar kampında yiğenlerini bulmaya çalışırlar ve bulurlar.Yeniden bir araya gelen aile,hep birlikte çekip gider.film sadece onların hakkındaymış gibi.

Hotel Rwanda is a film that was taken 2004.It tells one of the worst atrocities in the history of mankind which takes place in the country of Rwanda in Africa. The film shows the horrors of the civil war in Rwanda, bet**en the ruling Hutus and the rebel Tutsis.
The film tells the true story of Paul Rusesabagina, who was the manager of a high class hotel which catered to many foreign clients. As the film opens, the president of Rwanda, a Hutu, has signed a peace agreement with the Tutsi’s that will presumably mean the end of unrest in the region. Shortly after signing the treaty, ho**ver, he is assassinated by Tutsi rebels, sparking an uprising throughout the country. The Hutu police call for death to all Tutsi’s in the country, and the massacre begins.
The world inside Paul’s hotel is quite different. While there may be horrendous fighting outside the walls, he attempts to maintain the dignity of the hotel by treating everything as normal. Things begin to change when refugees pour in from the surrounding areas, and Paul is forced to house them, at least until the U.N. can come to the rescue.
Paul’s main concern is for his family; his wife is a Tutsi, and he must go to great lengths simply to keep her with him. Unbeknownst to Paul, the U.N. has given specific orders not to interfere with the war, and to simply act as a transportation device for those lucky citizens allo**d to leave the country.
Meanwhile Paul is forced to leave the hotel to pick up supplies, and it is only after he sees the corpses that litter the roads that he realizes the enormity of the situation. Suddenly, he seems to realize that simply saving his family will not be enough, and garners the strength to attempt to lead the civilians to safety.Because he realizes that neither US army nor U.N will **** them.
While thinking these,Paul doesn’t want to start out a hero, and doesn’t even seem to want to be one. As time passes though,although he doesn’t want, he has the task thrust on him, and rises to the occasion.He tries to do his best but can only save a few thousands of people.
Unfortunately because of what has happened is true,there is not a real end in the film.In the end Paul and Tatiana tries to find their orphaned nieces among the children of a refugee camp and they find.The reunited family walk off together,as if the story all along had been only about them.
