So that - In case

“So that” kendisinden sonra gelen cümlenin, temel cümlede yapılan eylemin amacını belirten bir belirteçtir. Sonrasında gelen cümle daima bir amaç belirtir. “olsun diye, olması için” anlamında kendisinden sonra gelen amaç cümlesini belirtir.

I opened the window so that the wind could come in
(Rüzgar içeri girebilsin diye pencereyi açtım)
Pencereyi açtım, çünkü rüzgarın içeri girmesini istiyorum. Bir amacım var. Amacım ise rüzgarın içeri girmesini sağlamak.

(İngilizcem gelişsin diye hergün İngilizce çalışıyorum)

“in case” kendisinden sonra gelen cümlenin, temel cümlede yapılan eylemin sebebini belirtir.
“in case” bir çeşit önlem ifade eden bir belirteçtir.


I will close the window in case the rain could come in.
(Yağmur içeri girerse diye pencereyi kapatacağım.)
Buradaki eylem tamamiyle bir başka eylemi kesmeye, önlemeye yönelik yapılıyor. Yağmura karşı pencereyi kapatmak.

(Yağmur yağarsa diye şemsiyemi yanıma alacağım)
