CAN - CAN'T YETENEK CÜMLELERİ

Can/Can't  Konu Anlatımı

*Can  yeteneklerimizden bahsederken kullanılmaktadır. Türkçe'de -ebilmek, -abilmek ekine karşılık gelmektedir.

- Tony can swim. (Tony yüzebilir.)
- My father can speak Chinese. (Babam Çince konuşabilir.)
- I can ski. (Kayak yapabilirim.)
- My sister can play the violin. (Kız kardeşim keman çalabilir.)
                                                            - My students can dance. (Öğrencilerim dans edebilir.)


*Olumsuz bir cümle kurmak, yani yapamadığımız şeyleri belirtmek için ise Can't (can not) kullanılır.

- Tony can not play volleyball. (Tony voleybol oynayamaz)
- My father can not speak French. (Babam Fransızca konuşamaz.)

- I can not skate. (Paten yapamam.)
- My sister can not play the guitar. (Kız kardeşim gitar çalamaz.)
- My students can not play basketball. (Öğrencilerim basketbol oynayamaz.)

*Olumlu ve olumsuz cümlelerde gördüğümüz gibi Can'in kullanımı cümledeki kişilere göre değişiklik göstermemektedir. Özne I da olsa, He, She, It, They de olsa Can yine aynı kalmaktadır.

*Can' in yeteneklerimizi belirtmek dışında bir başka kullanımı da vardır. Can aynı zamanda yapılması ya da meydana gelmesi muhtemel şeyler hakkında konuşurken de kullanılabilir.

- The doctor can see you at 3.00. (Doktor sizi saat 3te görebilir.)
Yani doktorun sizi görmesi ancak 3'te mümkün olacaktır. Daha önce görmesi mümkün değildir.

- You can not buy flowers at butcher's. (Kasaptan çiçek satın alamazsınız.)
Kasaptan çiçek satın almamız mümkün değildir.Bunu da can not ile söyleriz.


Question Form (Soru Şekli)

*Can ile soru yapmak istediğimizde have got ve has got kuralını uyguluyoruz. Yani Can ile özne yer değiştiriyor.

- Can you speak English? (İngilizce konuşabilir misin?)
Yes, I can. (Evet, konuşabilirim)

- Can your father drive a racing car? (Baban yarış arabası sürebilir mi?)
Yes, he can. (Evet, sürebilir.)

- Can your students play golf? (Öğrencilerin golf oynayabilir mi?)
No, they can not. (Hayır, oynayamazlar.)

*Örnek cümlelerdeki gibi kısa cevaplar verebiliriz. Uzun cevap vermek istiyorsak şöyle devam edebiliriz:

- Yes, I can speak English.
- Yes, he can drive a racing car.
- No, they can not play golf. (No, they can't play golf) takısını getirmekteyiz.
