Milan Baros in one of the most significant strikers coming from the Czech Republic. Having started playing football in Vigantice and transferring to Banik Ostrava later on, Baros played for Liverpool, Aston Villa, Olympique Lyon and Portsmouth as a loan
Between 2002 – 2005 he played for Liverpool and scored 19 goals in 65 matches. In the unforgettable Champions League final played in İstanbul, he was among the team that was losing the game with 3-0 against Milan but carried the match to 3-3 with the penalties and received the cup.
During his carreer in Liverpool he received the League Cup in 2003 and the Champions League Cup in 2005. Baros lost the League Cup in 2005 and in 2002 to Charity Shield in the final.
Later, he played for Aston Villa and Olympic Lyon. He scored 9 goals in 42 matches with Aston Villa, 7 goals in 24 matches with the French champion. The Czech star went to Portsmouth as a loan in 2008 and appeared in 12 official matches.
Moreover, he received the Piece Cup, French League championship and Champions League Cup in 2007 with Lyon.
Baros, scored 32 goals in 66 matches with Czech National Team whose uniform he wore the first time and scored his first goal for in April 25, 2001 against Belgium.
Milan Baros has become the championship’s top scorer with 5 goals in Euro 2004 with Czech Republic jersey and received the Golden Shoe.
During Euro 2008, Milan Baros wore the Czech jersey only once against Portugal, and didn’t appear in the last match of the group against our national team which ended 3-2 to our advantage.
